Sant Tukaram goes to Vaikunth
The mandal was founded in 1940 and is led by Dheeraj Ghate. As a display the mandal has chosen a mythological scene in which Saint Tukaram leaves for the heavenly abode. The devotee of Vitthal is shown leaving for the heavenly abode flying aboard a special flight sent for him by the gods. The display has nine idols with a huge idol of an eagle that is about five feet tall while that of Ganesh is four feet tall with silver ornaments. The mandal has extended funds for the flood relief activity through the Sakal Relief Fund. The mandal felicitates meritorious students and celebrates Diwali besides conducting various functions aimed at social awareness. |
